An area with a history as long and vibrant as Montgomery County deserves a museum that can tell the tale. The Montgomery Museum and Lewis Miller Regional Art Center is an excellent stop to soak in the rich history and art of our region.
A trip to the Montgomery Museum begins with a step into an historic building, a former church manse (circa 1852). In addition to exhibits detailing the region’s history, the museum boasts an archive of books as well as photographs, documents and genealogical information ready for researchers and interested visitors. The museum sponsors changing exhibits in the art gallery, featuring works by regional artists. Artist receptions, exhibit openings, and other events are held in the museum and also in the adjacent garden which is maintained by the Master Gardeners. Other events that the Montgomery Museum hosts are Heritage Day, Musical Traditions at Montgomery Museum, and various gallery receptions. End your visit with a stop by the museum gift shop for an opportunity to take home a bit of the area’s history for yourself.
